Waste Guidelines Policy for LME Group Pty Ltd
1. Purpose
This policy ensures compliance with LME Group’s waste guidelines to support safe, legal, and eco-friendly waste disposal. It outlines the types of acceptable waste, prohibited items, and the charges for non-compliance. Full guidelines can be viewed at: Waste Guidelines.
2. Acceptable Waste Types
LME Group allows for the following types of waste in skip bins:
- General Waste: Household items, furniture, plastics, and cardboard.
- Green Waste: Garden clippings, branches, and organic materials.
- Cleanfill/Hardfill: Soil, clay, and gravel (subject to acceptance).
- Mixed Heavy Waste: Bricks, concrete, rubble, and construction debris.
3. Prohibited Waste
The following waste types are strictly prohibited in skip bins:
- Hazardous Waste: Asbestos, chemicals, medical waste, and toxic substances.
- Liquids: Paint, oil, and other liquid waste.
- Large or Unmanageable Items: Oversized items like large tree stumps or non-breakable items that exceed weight or size restrictions.
If dangerous or hazardous items (such as asbestos or toxic chemicals) are detected, LME Group will arrange for their safe removal. Additional charges of $150 per hour will apply for the safe handling, removal, and disposal of these substances.
4. Mixed Waste Charges
If the waste in a skip bin does not match the booked waste type (for example, green waste mixed with construction debris), the following charges apply:
- Waste Sorting Fee: The full charge of the skip hire will be applied as a penalty to cover the cost of sorting the waste.
- Additional Processing Fee: Any additional costs associated with third-party processing will be passed on to the customer.
To avoid fees, ensure waste is separated correctly in accordance with the Waste Guidelines.
5. Customer Responsibilities
- Ensure the correct waste type is selected when booking a skip bin.
- Avoid mixing different types of waste (e.g., general waste and green waste).
- Review the waste guidelines before placing waste in the skip.
